European Parliament Schuman Traineeships 2027: Deadline, Eligibility and Application

European Parliament Schuman Traineeships 2027: Deadline, Eligibility and Application
On this page

The European Parliament’s Schuman traineeships offer paid professional experience in European parliamentary work. The next intake runs from 1 March to 31 July 2027, with applications accepted 1–31 October 2026. The closing time is 23:59 Brussels time on 31 October. The programme is competitive and selection depends on the advertised vacancy and eligibility requirements.

What the traineeship covers

Schuman placements span fields such as communication, law, administration, information technology, policy and related services. They last five months. Participants receive a monthly grant, but the amount depends on the country and location of placement. Do not treat a single euro figure quoted by a third-party article as the amount guaranteed for every position. Any travel support is governed by the official terms and should be checked for the particular placement.

Who can apply?

Applicants generally need a university degree or an accepted equivalent qualification and must meet the language and other conditions in the vacancy notice. Most positions are for nationals of EU member states and accession or candidate countries. A very limited number of places may be available to other nationalities. Nigerian and other non-EU applicants should confirm whether a particular opening accepts their nationality before preparing an application.

The programme is not an open, unrestricted scholarship for applicants from every country. Previous professional experience, language proficiency and the subject of a placement can influence eligibility. Read the exact position notice rather than relying on a generic list of countries.

How to apply

  1. Visit the official European Parliament traineeships portal.
  2. Review available placements and the nationality, academic and language criteria for each.
  3. Prepare the required CV and motivation letter. The programme requests a Europass-format CV where specified.
  4. Select suitable vacancies and submit your application before 23:59 Brussels time on 31 October 2026. The official programme limits the number of offers an applicant may apply for.
  5. Save the submission confirmation and check your email for official updates.

Deadline and application status

Status: Open for the March–July 2027 intake as of 22 October 2026. Deadline: 31 October 2026, 23:59 Brussels time. There is no guarantee of selection or a uniform monthly payment across placements.

What to verify before applying

Confirm the nationality restriction, exact location, grant amount, any travel reimbursement, language requirement and position-specific duties. If you are outside the EU, focus first on whether the portal explicitly allows applications from your nationality. No agent should be paid to secure a traineeship.
