Radboud University Master’s 2027: Deadlines, Scholarships and English Waiver

Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, is taking applications for its English-taught master’s programmes starting in September 2027. You apply through Studielink, the Dutch national application system. Students from Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya with a fully English-taught bachelor’s degree may not need an IELTS or TOEFL score. If you want one of Radboud’s scholarships, you must apply much earlier than the normal deadline.

Status: Open. Apply by 31 January 2027 if you want a scholarship, or by 1 April 2027 without one. These are the deadlines for non-EU/EEA students for the September 2027 intake. Applications opened on 1 October 2026. Some programmes with a placement procedure set their own dates, so check your programme page (checked November 2, 2026).

• Radboud Scholarship Programme: cuts your tuition from about 19,000 euros to about 2,771 euros a year, depending on your programme. It also covers your visa, residence permit, health insurance and liability insurance. It does not cover living costs. There are up to 26 awards for 2027/2028.
• NL Scholarship: 5,000 euros for the first year. You can only get it together with the Radboud Scholarship, so you must apply for both.

Both are partial scholarships. You request them inside the OSIRIS application system and upload a CV and two reference letters. Read the official Radboud Scholarship Programme page and the NL Scholarship page.

Can you skip IELTS?

Yes, in some cases. Radboud accepts a fully English-taught bachelor’s degree, equal in level to a Dutch research university degree, from an accredited institution in a list of countries. The list includes Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and others. India is not on the list, so Indian applicants need a test score. If you do need a test, IELTS Academic 6.5 is a common minimum, but scores vary by programme. Check the official language requirements.

Can you move with family?

Your partner and children can apply for a Dutch residence permit to live with you, but it is not automatic. The IND applies an income requirement to the sponsor. From July to December 2026, the amount for a partner is 2,337 euros a month gross. See the IND income requirements before you plan to bring family.

Who can apply

• You hold, or will soon hold, a bachelor’s degree equal to a Dutch research university (WO) bachelor’s.
• Your bachelor’s is in the same area as the master’s you choose.
• A degree from a university of applied sciences (polytechnic level) does not give direct entry.

How to apply

1. Choose your programme from the Radboud master’s list and check its own requirements.
2. Register and apply on Studielink before your deadline.
3. Complete your application in OSIRIS, upload your documents and tick the scholarship box if you want one.
4. Pay the non-refundable application fee of 100 euros for September 2027 entry.

Tips before you apply

• Apply before 31 January even if you are unsure about funding. You cannot request a scholarship later.
• Ask for reference letters now. Academic references are preferred.
• Budget for living costs. The IND study amount for 2026 is 1,130.77 euros a month.
