Climate work spans engineering, environmental science, policy, agriculture and social research. A scholarship search works better when you choose a concrete problem—such as electricity access, grid storage or climate adaptation—and then look for a funded degree or research group that studies it.
Germany: DAAD EPOS development courses
DAAD’s EPOS programme funds selected development-related postgraduate courses in Germany. Its 2027/28 list includes energy and environmental fields; use it to identify an exact course and deadline. EPOS requires at least two years’ professional experience and an eligible country of origin. Funding terms include a monthly payment, insurance contributions and a travel allowance under the programme rules. Check whether your chosen course’s scholarship application remains open.
Europe and beyond: Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters
Search the official Erasmus Mundus catalogue for renewable energy, sustainability, environment or related terms. Erasmus+ says applicants worldwide can apply directly to a joint master’s programme and full scholarships may be available to its best-ranked candidates. They cover participation costs and contribute to travel, visa and living expenses. Check the individual consortium’s current course, mobility plan and scholarship deadline; a catalogue listing by itself does not prove a funded seat is open.
United States: research-funded PhDs
The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability lists PhD programmes in areas including energy science and engineering, earth systems and environmental research. It states that PhD candidates receive tuition and stipend support through fellowships or assistantships. Master’s funding is different and may be limited. Its application fee waivers have separate eligibility rules. Read the particular department’s admissions page, identify a faculty match and confirm the funding terms for your intended intake.
How to compare offers
For each opportunity, record the study level, eligible nationalities, required work or research background, tuition treatment, living support, travel and application fee. A stipend or £10,000 tuition discount cannot automatically be called a fully funded degree. Use the official programme page for the final 2027 dates and conditions.
