An Erasmus Mundus Joint Master lets you study an integrated master’s programme across several universities, often in more than one country. Applicants from Nigeria, India and elsewhere can compete for the scholarships offered by individual programmes. There is no single universal application form or deadline.
What makes it a joint master’s?
According to Erasmus+, participating programmes involve at least three higher-education institutions in at least three countries. The degree usually takes one or two academic years and may lead to a joint degree or multiple degrees. The exact campuses, mobility periods, language of instruction and qualification are listed by each consortium.
Scholarship and eligibility
Full scholarships may be offered to the best-ranked applicants worldwide. Erasmus+ says they cover participation costs and contribute to travel, visa costs and a living allowance. Do not assume every course or every admitted student receives the scholarship; inspect the specific programme’s funding page and whether it requires a separate scholarship application.
You normally need a bachelor’s degree, or may apply in the final year of bachelor’s study if you graduate before the master’s begins. A formally recognised equivalent level of learning can also qualify. Each programme adds subject, language, document and selection requirements of its own.
How to find and apply to a programme
- Search the European Education and Culture Executive Agency’s course catalogue by subject. Look for a course whose current intake and scholarship information are posted.
- Open that programme’s own website and read its admission and scholarship instructions. Applications go directly to the institution or consortium running the course.
- Check degree prerequisites, language proof, transcripts, references and any required statement. Explain why the combination of universities and the specific curriculum fit your goals.
- Save the consortium’s stated deadline and time zone. Erasmus+ says many applications are submitted between October and January for the following academic year, but the exact date varies.
For applicants in development, climate, public health or technology fields, check the course syllabus before writing a generic “study in Europe” essay. Selection is for a specific joint programme, not for a continent-wide scholarship pool.
