The Axel Adler Scholarship is a full tuition fee waiver at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. It is for international students who must pay tuition fees in Sweden and who apply to an eligible master’s programme, or to one of seven bachelor’s programmes. It is funded by the Adlerbertska Scholarship Foundation, the Adlerbertska Grant Foundation and the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).

Status: Open. The first step is your study application on universityadmissions.se, which must be in by 15 January 2027. You then pay the application fee and send your documents by 1 February 2027. The scholarship form itself comes by email around 10 February 2027 (checked October 19, 2026).

What it covers

  • Full tuition for your whole programme: four semesters for a two-year master’s, two semesters for a one-year master’s, and six semesters for a bachelor’s.
  • The foundations pay the fee directly to the university.
  • Scholarship holders are covered by FAS+ insurance, run by Kammarkollegiet.

The scholarship does not pay living costs, accommodation or travel. You need your own plan for these.

Who can apply

  • You must be required to pay tuition fees in Sweden. You do not need to have paid the fee before you apply.
  • You must rank an international, campus-based Gothenburg programme as your first choice in the international admission round. Online programmes are not eligible.
  • You must meet the entry requirements of the programme.
  • You cannot combine this award with another scholarship that covers tuition.

All full-time master’s programmes at the university are eligible. The eligible bachelor’s programmes are Software Engineering and Management, Computer Science and AI, International Relations, Business and Economics, and three BFA programmes in Metal Art, Wood Oriented Furniture Design, and Craft with Specialisation in Crafting Futures.

There is also an Axel Adler Scholarship for Sustainability, with 2 to 12 awards for sustainability-focused master’s programmes. It asks for an extra sustainability motivation of up to 3,000 characters. You can apply for both in the same form, but you can receive only one.
