Funds Chinese-language study and teacher-training tracks specifically, rather than general degree programs. There’s no single global portal for this one — applications route through your local Confucius Institute or the specific Chinese university hosting the program.

4. Peking University & Beijing Government Scholarships

5. Provincial & Municipal Government Scholarships

Beyond the national CSC, individual provinces and cities — Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, Yunnan, and others — run their own scholarship funds for international students at universities within their region. Coverage is usually tuition-only or tuition plus a partial stipend, and the deadline is whatever your specific host university sets, generally in the same window as CSC applications. Ask your target university’s international student office directly which provincial or municipal scholarships it’s eligible to nominate you for — this is rarely advertised clearly on general scholarship sites.
The Strategy: Working With China’s Decentralized System
- Your embassy’s date is the real deadline — not a “China deadline.” The single biggest cause of missed CSC applications is watching a generic “China Scholarship 2027” date instead of your own country’s embassy notice. Check your embassy’s website directly, every year, since it’s rarely the same date twice.
- Decide Type A or Type B early. Type A (embassy-nominated) and Type B (university-nominated) have different application paths and sometimes different timing — you need to know which one you’re pursuing before you start gathering documents.
