Undergraduate funding abroad is available to Nigerian applicants, but “full scholarship” can mean different things. Some awards pay course fees and living costs; others calculate your family’s contribution and meet the remainder. Admission, aid and scholarship forms may have separate deadlines.
Reach Oxford Scholarship, UK
The University of Oxford’s Reach Oxford page includes Nigeria among eligible countries. The award pays course fees, a living-cost grant and one return airfare per year for the course duration. It is for new undergraduates on eligible courses, excluding medicine, and Oxford lists only about two or three awards each year. Candidates need an Oxford admission offer before the scholarship can be considered, and financial need and social commitment matter alongside academic strength.
For 2027 entry, Oxford says scholarship application details will appear in January 2027 and lists a 26 January 2027 scholarship deadline. The undergraduate admission application is a separate earlier step; check Oxford’s live admissions calendar now.
Harvard College and Princeton University, USA
Harvard College says international students are eligible for the same need-based aid as US students. Its admission process is need-blind and it meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for admitted students. Princeton similarly says it admits international applicants without considering their ability to pay and meets admitted students’ full need with grants rather than loans.
These are not automatic merit scholarships or a promise that every family pays zero. The university assesses income and circumstances; an admitted student’s award fills the gap between its calculated cost and expected family contribution. Apply for financial aid using the college’s own instructions and deadlines.
India: ICCR’s undergraduate route
The Indian government’s ICCR India-Africa Maitri scheme includes undergraduate study for African applicants, subject to the current country, course and institution rules. Record the admission deadline, separate aid deadline, required school results, references, language evidence and whether a scholarship form is needed after an offer. Build a budget using the official funding calculation or award terms, including travel and visa costs where they are not covered.
